I began my keto journey on boxing day of December, 2014, where my starting weight was 77 kg. As you have read, Stefan discovered this diet on his search for a cure to his Type 2 Diabetes,
and I decided to also try it out as I thought, what do I have to lose other than a few kilos! I have always had issues with my body image and self confidence and although I have
never been over 80 kg, (for my height that is far from desirable!) prior to this diet I was almost in a size 16 with a lot of jiggly areas and was feeling very unhealthy, fatigued, unfit, miserable and unmotivated.
As of today, I weigh 68.4 kg and have so much more energy and have never felt better! I hardly ever have junk food cravings anymore and my hunger pains have dramatically reduced (one of the many positives!), which helps me when working long hours or split shifts.
I have recently joined a gym with Christina where we hope to shed more weight and I personally want to reduce my body fat percentage, tone down and gain muscle definition. Like Christina, I really regret not recording all of my body measurements ‘pre-keto’ as I am sure the results would speak for themselves regarding the effectiveness of following a LCHF plan.
I have personally experienced a bit of criticism in regards to embracing such a lifestyle change and cutting out carbs, with a lot of people not understanding why I would replace what they think is ‘healthy’ like fruit, bread, breakfast cereals and health smoothies with a truck load of fat! On the other hand, I have also received a lot of positive feedback and questions about what I am doing to dramatically change my appearance in such a short time. I would like to share my journey with anyone who is interested in beginning their keto adaptation as at first, it can be very daunting and confusing! I also want to increase general awareness about the many benefits of the diet and the real damaging effects that carbohydrates and sugar can have on people’s health and well being (I definitely recommend watching ‘Cereal Killers’ and ‘That Sugar Film’!).
Like the other guys, I will keep you updated on my weight loss stats and provide you with my current body scan results. Hopefully when I post my new results and progress photos in several weeks time there will be dramatic, noticeable improvements!
